初めてPCを購入してからしばらくはネットサーフィンしていました。そこでいろいろなゲームサイトがある事を知り、「いつか自分もこういうWEBサイトを作って人を呼べたらいいな」と思っていました。しかし自分にはWEBサイト制作の知識なんてあるはずもなく、何から始めればいいのかわからない状態でした。
ある日、知人がWEBサイト制作ソフトを持っているということを聞き、お願いしてそれを譲ってもらいました。インストールから制作までほとんど独学でやっていたので最初のサイトが完成するまで結構時間がかかりました。それでも何とか完成させたいという一心で頑張りました。
……数ヶ月後、一つのサイトが生まれました。それがエイヴィヒカイトです。
今思い出してみると、生まれたてのエイヴィヒカイトは機能的にもデザイン的にも今より劣っていて、即席で作られたようなものでした。でも当時の自分にとっては初めて完成させた唯一のWEBサイトということで最高の出来に見えていたと思います。
扱っているものはゲームの攻略。なかでもゼノギアスというゲームだけは特別な扱いをしていました。
何とかプロバイダのスペースを借りて公開したものの、みんなに知ってもらわない事には始まらないということで、いろいろな検索エンジンに登録したり、同じ内容を扱っているサイトの管理者へと相互リンクを申し込んだりしました。他にはチャットに参加したり掲示板へと書き込んだりと交流を図っていました。
For a while after I bought my first PC, I was looking at various Web sites. I learned that there were various game websites and thought, "Someday I would like to create such a website and invite people to visit it.
However, I had no knowledge of website development and did not know where to start. One day, I heard that an acquaintance of mine had a website creation software, and he gave it to me. I taught myself almost everything from installation to production, so it took me a long time to complete my first website. Still, I was determined to complete it somehow. A few months later, a website was born. That was ewigkeit. Looking back on it now, the new ewigkeit was inferior to the current one in terms of both functionality and design, and it seemed to have been created on the spot. But to me at the time, I think it looked like the best website because it was the first and only website I had completed.
The site dealt with game strategies. Among them, I gave special treatment to one game in particular, Xenogears. I managed to rent a server from a provider and opened the site to the public, but I had to let everyone know about it, so I registered the site with various search engines and applied for reciprocal links to the administrators of websites that dealt with the same content. I also participated in chat rooms and posted on bulletin boards.
上図のような感じでいくつかのサイトから情報、MIDI、イラストの転載許可をいただいたりしていわゆる総合情報サイトのような形で成長していきました。
しかし時が経つにつれ、お付き合いのあったサイトが一つまた一つと閉鎖、休止していきました。周りが連鎖的に閉鎖していくなかそれでもエイヴィヒカイトは運営を続けていきました。同時に新しいサイトも誕生していたので今まで常駐していたサイトがなくなってもそちらへとほとんどの人が移動していったと思います。
今のままのスタイルでエイヴィヒカイトを運営していくことも可能でしたが、徐々に私の周りの環境も変化していき持続させていく事が困難になってきました。
そこで私はエイヴィヒカイトを閉鎖させるのではなく、扱っているものを制限させることにしました。もともとゲーム攻略は扱っていたので、そのなかで自分の好きなゼノギアスだけを抜粋しそれに集中してサイト作りをしていくことにしました。取扱ソフトを限定させることによりゼノギアスに興味ある人が集まり、掲示板やチャットもかつての賑わいを取り戻してきました。
今も昔も変わらないことがあります。それはエイヴィヒカイトが自分一人の力だけではなく、皆さんの力もあり成り立っているという事です。これから先どうなっていくか分かりませんが、今後ともエイヴィヒカイトをどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
We received permission from several websites to reproduce information, MIDI, and illustrations, and grew into what is called a general information website.
As time went by, however, the sites that we had been in contact with gradually closed or went on hiatus. While others closed their doors in a chain reaction, ewigkeit continued to operate. At the same time, new websites were being created, so I think most of the people moved to those websites even though the ones they had been residing on were no longer in existence.
It was possible to operate ewigkeit in the same style as it is now, but gradually the environment around me changed and it became difficult to sustain ewigkeit.
So I decided not to shut down ewigkeit, but to limit what it handled. Since I had always dealt with game strategies, I decided to concentrate on Xenogears, my favorite game, and create a website focusing on that. By limiting the software I handle, people who are interested in Xenogears have gathered, and the bulletin board and chat rooms have become more lively.
One thing has not changed. That is that ewigkeit has been built not only by myself but also by all of you. I do not know what will happen in the future, but I would like to ask for your continued support for ewigkeit.
